Cooking things perfectly isn’t always as easy we’d like it to be. While many frying pans offer some indication of heat through a marker on the center of the pan, it’s still not always enough to know exactly when it’s at the heat you want it. Pantelligent aims to bring the humble frying pan into the 21st century via its temperature sensor that hooks up with a smartphone app.
It’s extraordinarily simple in design. The frying pan offers an embedded sensor that measures the temperature as you cook, with data transmitted to your phone via Bluetooth Low Energy. The Pantelligent app keeps track of all the clever stuff with you simply telling it what you’re planning to cook.
The app then relays information on how hot the pan is currently, how hot it should be, and lets you know when to add ingredients, stir, or flip. Alerts mean you can keep the temperature steady as and when needed. You can even walk away, safe in the knowledge that Pantelligent will tell you when you need to do something.
For the more adventurous chef, you can switch to Freestyle mode too, meaning you can constantly monitor the temperature but no alerts means you’re entirely in control. A record feature enables you to record such free styling activities too.
Pantelligent is currently available via a Kickstarter campaign with it already having surpassed its goal. While the Early Bird specials are all gone, there’s time yet to grab a Pantelligent pan for $199, $50 below retail price. The campaign has until January 6 to run.
